Miriam van de Mond is a Vancouver-based artist whose work is driven by a passion for creativity, colour, and artistic exploration. Miriam has a degree from Emily Carr University, Bachelor of Fine Arts, 2025, and she is known for her distinctive approach to painting, drawing inspiration from the natural movement of paint, organic forms, and the expressive possibilities of colour and composition. Inspired by artists such as Claude Monet, or Vincent Van Gogh. Miriam enjoys exploring different techniques and approaches to painting while continuing to develop her own artistic voice.

Miriam's creative practice usually involves acrylics and oil painting because she uses them more often as a medium. She feels that they have a relationship with scenic views. Miriam has searched for other artists before that used the same mediums similar to what my practices are.

As an "gifted" artist, at times, She experiences feelings of deep fear and worry while other times, she feels great joy. Part of being a gifted artist is having her head filled with thoughts and ideas, like a wildfire in her head. Painting gives her a place to ground herself and to translate her hopes and fears. Her work draws inspiration from vibrant landscape blending her memories of the natural world with expressive forms. She often incorporates "good noise" - abstract forms and patterns of nature into her paintings. She wants the viewer to hear and feel the emotions she experiences. She finished her paintings basic training through a visual Arts degree at Emily Carr University, (with support from STEPS Forward).  She is now a full time artist at James Black Gallery, where she has a studio and is selling her work.
